Mission
TMS Foundation’s mission is to provide mobility impaired children a brighter future through FULLY Accessible playgrounds, through the love and compassion that we share and through the generosity of our contributors. We hope to effect positive changes in their lives through our projects.
Vision
TMS Foundation’s vision is to see a safe recreational future for today’s mobility impaired children and their families.
Goal
TMS Foundation hopes to improve the quality of life for mobility impaired children throughout the United States.
Our son Tristan was diagnosed with Limb-Girdle Muscular Dystrophy in 2006. Once his muscular disease started to progressively become worse,we noticed he had alot of trouble simply playing on playgrounds in public parks and that an astounding amount of playgrounds only have one wheelchair access point for disabled children however once inside the play area, most immobile children wouldn’t even be able to maneuver their power chairs in the mulch laid down instead of the recommended rubberized flooring systems. During our countless hours at A.I duPont Children’s Hospital , we started to speak with parents of immobile children and asked if they had noticed that the playgrounds are not fully accessible for disabled children. Every parent said the same thing “Yes we have no place to go, but what can we do?” We began to travel throughout the DE,NJ,PA, and NY corridor visiting public parks and realized there aren’t any fully accessible playgrounds even though the equipment is readily available to be installed.
In 2010 we formed The TMS Foundation in honor of Tristan, the main goal for TMS Foundation is to build FULLY ACCESSIBLE playgrounds for children. A place where mobility impaired children can roam freely along side of their friends and family without feeling left on the sidelines and becoming even more independent while at the playground. These playgrounds will start in the NJ,NY,PA and DE areas and reach across the nation. TMS wants every child to count and take the saying no child left behind to a new level.
